Crime gun intelligence connects the dots between people, places, and firearms, with the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) playing a central role in that process. This presentation explains what NIBIN is, how it works, and the advantages it brings to investigations. We will look at its tactical value in helping investigators advance cases and its strategic value in identifying shooting patterns, focusing enforcement, and preventing future violence. Drawing on case studies from Detroit, Michigan, this presentation will show how ballistic evidence can be transformed into actionable intelligence that supports both immediate and long-term public safety goals.
