Past Programs

We offer many diverse programs to our members and guests. A listing of our past programs is below. Please come join us in the future.

April 22, 2023 – Open House Celebration

Open House Celebration from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. – all welcome.

Join the Scott Club in celebrating completion of the Accessibility Improvement Project. This important initiative included installing an ADA-compliant automatic door for the ground level, enlarging the bathroom and making it ADA-compliant, and renovating the reduced-size prep kitchen. Come and see the improvements, which complete the renovation of the ground level. Take a tour of the historic Literary Hall upstairs, and enjoy refreshments. If you have never been inside the Scott Club – here is your chance! If it’s been a while, come and see the improvements. Please enter on the ground level, east side of the building. The Scott Club extends special thanks to grant funders Michigan Arts and Culture Council, Timken of Canton, South Haven Area Community Foundation, Michigan Gas Utilities and members of the South Haven Women Who Care.

March 7: Choices for Independent Lives

By Region IV Area Agency on Aging

The mission of Region IV Area Agency on Aging (RIVAAA) is offering choices for independent lives, RIVAAA team members will provide an overview of the Agency’s role and share about services and resources available in the Cass, Berrien and Van Buren County service areas. The presentation will cover the individual to systemic impact that the RIVAAA focuses on, including information about available community services, homebased care options, access and information services, business development, advocacy work, volunteer opportunities and the Campus for Creative Aging.

February 21: Everyday Miracles by Linda LaRocque

Everyday Miracles by Linda LaRocque
Scott Club member Linda LaRocque will present her true story of how a small effort made a huge difference in someone’s life. Her story was published in Chicken Soup for the Soul, Blessings of Christmas 2021, and First for Women magazine, November 2021 issue. Join us on Zoom to hear Linda’s actual experience of the impact our local community’s generosity has on all of us.

February 7: Black History Leadership Society – “We’ve Come This Far by Faith”

January 17: Organizing 101- Tips and Tricks

Make your home more enjoyable! Heather will share home organizing tips and tricks so that you can find more peace and calm in your home. Hear success stories and learn about different projects ranging from decluttering basements to photo-worthy pantries.

Heather Christensen is a local business owner. She is a certified Professional Home Organizer and Home Stager. She enjoys projects such as unpacking, new home setup, space optimization, sorting sessions, and one-on-one coaching with her fabulous clients.

December 6 at 1:00 pm: Celebrate the Holidays – Luncheon and Program of Holiday Classics – RSVP REQUIRED

Celebrate the holidays with a delicious luncheon of either Beef/Vegetable Pot Pie or Dinner Salad with Grilled Chicken. Dessert will be Cherry Crisp with vanilla ice cream. Luncheon cost: $12.00

The South Haven Chamber Orchestra, a group of talented musicians from South Haven High School under the direction of Jessica Fiedorowicz, will entertain with a program of holiday classics. Join us for this festive program! Guests are welcome!

November 15: Women Aviators, The Ninety-Nines

The Ninety-Nines is the national organization of women pilots that promote the advancement of aviation through education, scholarships & mutual support while honoring their history. Michigan Chapter member, Frances Rose, a third-generation pilot, assists with social media and events including Girl Scout Aviation Day. Frances will be speaking on the past and current role of the Ninety-Nines in promoting women in aviation.

November 1: Daughters of Resilience, Diversity, and Patriotism

Debi Robertson will examine the history of the women who shaped America in the footsteps of their Revolutionary War Patriots and introduce today’s Daughters of the American Revolution. Debi is the Regent of the Algonquin Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution in St. Joseph/Benton Harbor, Michigan. Living in Berrien Springs, Michigan with her husband and dachshund, she is a retired educator who loves to share history and the work of the DAR. She has five sons and 13 grandchildren.
